Video of the Day - Bat For Lashes

Lovely song and video from Natasha Khan written about me ;)

You can catch her at The Forum on 29th October - I would love to go but it's just a bit steep for me.

New Little Dragon - Sunshine

New track from one of my faves, Little Dragon:

As you'll see it's in partnership with Absolut which at first seems a bit weird n full on in the thumbnail/title card, but there aren't many refs to Absolut throughout. At least it's a cool vodka brand and I'm sure Little Dragon got paid handsomely :)

Mostexclusivevideoever.com

Belgian band Absynthe Minded had a unique idea to promote the video for their latest single "Space", helping them to gain radio airplay and encourage fan loyalty.

Their site mostexclusivevideoever.com only broadcasted the video whilst the song was being played on the radio.

Here comes the science bit, concentrate:

The track was created with a detectable audio watermark which allowed the program, which operates similarly to song recognition technology, to identify the Absynthe Minded song among the constant stream of radio play. At times when the song was not being played by radio DJs, visitors to mostexclusivevideoever.com could instead access a short film detailing the making of the video. The video and song aren't that interesting but still, the idea is a bit different! Reminds me of Adam Tensta’s Pass It On app which I wrote about here, check it.

Hello to Palma Violets

Two live videos from hotly tipped band Palma Violets.

Hard to tell tooooo much from these videos, quite The Smiths esque perhaps but they've toured with Alabama Shakes which is a very good sign.

Watch this space...

Video of the Day: Ok Go

Impressive new video from Ok Go for Needing/Getting.

OK Go set up over 1000 instruments over two miles of desert outside Los Angeles. A Chevy Sonic was outfitted with retractable pneumatic arms designed to play the instruments, and the band recorded this version of Needing/Getting, singing as they played the instrument array with the car. The video took 4 months of preparation and 4 days of shooting and recording.

New Santigold Track

First off, I'd like to say that I'm a massive Santigold fan and have been waiting aaaaaaaaages for her new material, but unfortunately new track "Big Mouth" is not an instant hit with me.

Maybe it's the bizarre video that's putting me off a bit?

Anyway Santi, I hope it's a grower and not a shower.

You can download the track for free here

Track of the Day - Lion

Really loving this track from Eugene Mcguinness, it's quite addictive.

If I was to update my track on This is My Jam right now, I would pick this!

The video's quite fun too.

Video of the Day - DJ Shadow

Nice chilled tune from DJ Shadow featuring Little Dragon - 'Scale it back'

Amusingly bizarre and entertaining video

Check out his latest album 'The Less You Know, The Better' which also includes collaborations with Tali Kweli and one of my fave artists of 2011, Tom Vek.

Girl Walk

Girl Talk first crossed my radar when my friend Edd created this brilliantly geeky site to show all of the samples used as you listen to the 'Feed the Animals' album.

When I first heard a video was being made to accompany the 'All Day' album I thought it sounded like a nice idea but was perhaps too long time after the release...

Anyway, the first part of the video has been released and it's pretty good but could get tedious after a while? Surely a regular at hipster parties all over London though?!
